On these pages, we have collected together some documents and images which tell part of the story of the life of Lt. Col. A.A.(“Ack Ack”) Johnson, MC. He was, amongst other things, a prisoner of war in the Far East during WWII and we wanted to share and reflect on what he and others went through as the 75th anniversary of VJ Day approaches. In more normal times, we might have looked at these while gathered round the table during a large family gathering, but as we cannot meet physically at the moment we are using this website as an alternative way of sharing. As far as we know, the information contained here is accurate, but the material is only intended for the private perusal of the extended family and friends.
News: we understand that there will be two programmes about VJ Day this Saturday, and there is the chance that the photograph below may be one of many featured in a montage.
